IRL UK courses are run by Hannah Mitchell.

Hannah is an experienced mentor and facilitator who is passionate about supporting young people to recognise their strengths, build resilience and create positive futures. She believes that with the right guidance, opportunities and support, every young person can develop the confidence and skills needed to lead a fulfilling and independent life.

Hannah Mitchell

Hannah is the founder and Director of IRL Education CIC. She holds a BA (Hons) in Business and French from Newcastle University and spent over a decade living and working internationally in France and Australia before returning to Scotland. Her professional background spans organisational leadership, learning and development, financial management and community engagement.

Prior to establishing IRL, Hannah spent two years mentoring young people through ProjectScotland, supporting them to build confidence, develop life skills and achieve their goals. For the past four years, she has specialised in delivering employability, wellbeing and transition support for young people across Badenoch & Strathspey. She has extensive experience providing one-to-one mentoring, group workshops and employability programmes, including digital skills support, action planning, employer engagement and barrier removal, working particularly with young people facing challenges in accessing education, training and employment. Hannah is trained in trauma-informed practice, mentoring, child protection and first aid. She has also completed the Growing2gether Positive Psychology Practitioner training and holds an Institute of Leadership Certificate in Transformational Work with Young People.

Passionate about helping young people realise their potential, Hannah works closely with young people, families, schools, employers and community organisations to create opportunities that support positive futures. Over the past three years, more than 90% of participants supported by IRL have progressed into positive destinations in education, employment or training.

Outside of IRL, Hannah enjoys wild swimming, mountain biking, trail running and spending time in the Cairngorms National Park. She is also a certified celebrant and values supporting people through important life transitions and milestones.
